Tribute to Dmitri Hvorostovsky

This performance brings opera singers from around the world to perform a tribute concert to their beloved friend and colleague, Dmitri Hvorostovsky. The evening celebrates the extraordinary life and artistry of the Russian operatic baritone with his favorite repertoire: soaring opera arias; uplifting operetta selections; soulful Russian romances; and crossover/pop songs. Featured performers include soprano Veronika Dzhioeva (Bolshoi Theater); mezzo-soprano Nino Surguladze (Covent Garden); tenor Raúl Melo (Metropolitan Opera); baritone David Gvinianidze (President/Founder of Talents of the World); soprano Olga Lisovskaya (Director, Talents of the World); tenor Giovanni Formisano and baritone Junhan Choi (winners of the 2017 Talents of the World International Voice Competition); and baritone Oleksandr Kyreiev (Bolshoi Theater).
Тhe proceeds will be donated to organizations seeking cures for children with cancer.

Referred to as “Penélope Cruz of the opera” by the media and compared at various times to Audrey Hepburn and Anna Magnani, Nino Surguladze is one of the leading mezzo-sopranos of modern generation, admired for her warm and velvety voice, incisive musicianship, excellent acting abilities, notable stage presence, and physical beauty. Ms. Surguladze is a versatile artist, performing opera, pop and acting in Hollywood series. She is also very passionate about helping children in need. Her Fund “Desire Tree”, was established in 2014. Its aims to provide assistance to Georgian children in need of acute medical treatment abroad, and to raise awareness of the society of the children’s sufferings.
Bolshoi Theater soloist and winner of several prestigious international competitions and the popular Grand Opera TV Competition, Ms. Dzhioeva performed frequently with Mr. Hvorostovsky. She is one of the most exciting and versatile sopranos in the world today. Ms. Dzhioeva is also known for her appearances in Russian TV films.
A Metropolitan Opera tenor, remembers vividly his collaborations with Dmitri Hvorostovsky. Mr. Melo has been enjoying a career performing some of the most demanding roles of the Italian and French repertoire across four continents. His international career began when he was awarded the prize of “Best Lyric Tenor” in the 1992 Alfredo Kraus Competition, a prize personally bestowed upon Mr. Melo by the late great Spanish tenor.
President and Founder of Talents of the World, Inc. and a recipient of several prestigious awards and medals, including the United Nations’ Medal, for promoting Arts and Culture. Mr. Gvinianidze is frequently invited to be a judge at international competitions, guest on TV programs and collaborates with many music festivals. Mr. Gvinianidze is a renowned baritone, who tours the world with solo recitals and grand concert projects.
“A wonderful coloratura soprano with flexibility to caress the highest range notes”, Olga Lisovskaya is Talents of the World’s soloist and Director. Ms. Lisovskaya’s music career involves both singing on the most prestigious concert stages, including Carnegie Hall, and producing successful concert projects and Talents of the World’s International Voice Competition. Ms. Lisovskaya’s concerts of Ukrainian repertoire have been featured on both Ukrainian and American TV.
Winner of the prestigious Neue Stimmen Voice Competition and Bolshoi Theater Soloist, the young baritone Oleksander Kyreiev possesses a voice of exceptional beauty and tembre. He excites the audiences all over the world with his renditions of difficult operatic repertoire as well as Russian romances and crossover repertoire.
An Italian tenor, Giovanni Formisano, made his Carnegie Hall début with Talents of the World in 2017. Mr. Formisano is famous for his interpretations of Neapolitan songs, and was featured on RAI International TV. He performs regularly with opera companies throughout the U.S., specializing in Italian repertoire.
Baritone Junhan Choi, a native of South Korea, was recently awarded 1st Prize in Talents of the World International Voice Competition, Extraordinary prize at the 54th Viñas international voice competition in Barcelona. He received three special prizes for best performer of Oratorio-Lied. He also won 1st place in MetroWest Opera’s Vocal Competition. Mr. Choi performed Belcore in L’elisir d’amore and Germont in La Traviata in Korea. Mr. Choi holds Master’s degree and Graduate Diploma with a Presidential Scholarship from New England Conservatory of Music.
Victoria Ulanovskaya, pianist, is a graduate of the St. Petersburg Conservatory in Russia, and has performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls across Russia and Europe. In the U.S., Victoria has performed in Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Merkin Concert Hall, the Washington National Cathedral, the John F. Kenndy Center for Performing Arts, et al. Victoria is also the founder of Little Theater NYC, a musical theater for children that performs original musicals based on classic works of children’s literature.
Pianist Alexandra Naumenko is a highly sought-after artist and collaborator who enjoys an exciting career as a pianist and vocal coach. During 2014-2017 season Ms. Naumenko was on the faculty of the University of Miami Frost School of Music as well as an assistant conductor and YAP vocal coach at the Palm Beach Opera.
